Grounded in Research

ReliaPlay emerged from doctoral-level research in computer science focused on the limits of modern real-time communication architectures. Led by a PhD researcher, the work examined why existing video conferencing and real-time transport systems degrade so sharply over lossy networks.

That work led to a practical insight: real-time systems have long faced a painful tradeoff between accepting packet loss, waiting for retransmissions, or adding redundancy that can waste bandwidth and increase delay. ReliaPlay changes that tradeoff. By combining a new recovery architecture with adaptive, network-aware protection, it makes application-layer loss recovery practical for real-time streams where conventional approaches have been too rigid, too costly, or too slow.
